R.J.
works extensively with new works and new playwrights, both as a
freelance director and as co-Artistic Director of Youngblood. He’s
directed more than a dozen world premiere productions, along with
scores of workshops and readings. Recent credits with Youngblood
include: Triage by Sharyn Rothstein and The Jamal Lullabyes
by Emily Conbere, in Youngblood's Thicker Than Water 2007,
The True Life Story of [Your Name Here] in the Brick's
$ELLOUT FESTIVAL; A Bitter Taste by Kevin Christopher Snipes,
in Thicker Than Water 2006; workshop of Elected
by Zakiyyah Alexander in the Unfiltered festival
of new works; D.C. by Daria Polatin in Thicker Than
Water (recently published by Dramatists
Play Service). Other credits include: Not All Korean Girls
Can Fly by Lloyd Suh in the EST Marathon 2006;Total Faith
in Cosmic Love and The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
by John DeVore, and Dear Dubya: Patriotic Love Letters to Whitehouse.org

and Burning by Joe Hortua, both at Rattlestick Playwrights
Theatre; Bake-Off by Sheri Wilner at the Cherry Lane Alternative;
co-directed the 2000 Off-Broadway revival of Godspell;
'Tis Pity She's a Whore and Measure for Measure,
with the Womens Shakespeare Company. Before moving to New York in
1997, R.J. spent two years as Artistic Director of Shadowbox Cabaret
in Columbus, Ohio and was a directing intern at Ensemble Theatre
of Cincinnati. R.J. lives in Park Slope with his wife Lisa and their
son, Max.
