MATT SCHATZ's plays have been performed at Ensemble
Studio Theatre, The Midtown International Theater Festival, The
Pittsburgh Summer New Play Festival, and at Carnegie Mellon University.
He was a recipient of a 2006 EST/Sloan Commission, a finalist for
a 2006/2007 Sloan Initiative grant from the Magic Theater in San
Francisco, a nominee for the 2007/2008 Playwrights of New York (PONY)
Fellowship, and is currently a semi-finalist for the 2008 P73 Playwriting
Fellowship. Also a songwriter, Matt can be seen performing original
songs each month at the Youngblood Sunday Brunch, and occasionally
at other venues in New York. Matt holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing
from Carnegie Mellon University (2004) where he was twice a Shubert
Fellow. He is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop
(as a lyricist) and the Dramatist Guild.
