Qui Nguyen


QUI NGUYEN (Playwright/Fight Choreographer) Originally from southern Arkansas, Qui is a Co-Artistic Director along with Robert Ross Parker of Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company. Qui's plays include the Vampire Cowboys productions of VAMPIRE COWBOY TRILOGY later produced at the New York International Fringe Festival; STAINED GLASS UGLY later produced at the Midtown International Fringe Festival and in Los Angeles at Noho Studios; and A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO DEICIDE. Other plays include BIKE WRECK (commissioned and produced at Metropolitan Playhouse); SLICING ANDRE (EST's Octoberfest); PAVILIONS (co-written with Carla Ching, Sung Rno, and Lloyd Suh for Ma-Yi Theater); STAND-UP ABSURDITY (The Wing & Groove Theatre of Chicago); and the upcoming TRIAL BY WATER: A GOOK STORY PART ONE (workshopped at Mark Taper Forum/co-produced by Ma-Yi Theater/Queens Theatre in the Park). Qui Nguyen holds a MFA in Playwriting from the Ohio University School of Theatre and is a recipient The Gilman/New Dramatists Playwriting Fellowship, a commission from the Ma-Yi Theater Company and the Jerome Foundation, and recognized as one of 2004’s NYTheatre.com’s People of the Year. His play, VAMPIRE COWBOY TRILOGY, is published in PLAYS AND PLAYWRIGHTS 2005 by New York Theatre Experience. Qui is a member playwright of Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Youngblood and Ma-Yi Theater Writers Lab. He is a recognized advanced actor/combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors.
